FTC ~ Roof Rack–Rhino-Rack USA Vortex Trackmount Roof Rack [Installed], 10/10

It is done [and I am glad]!

It took 11 days for receipt on 09/29–all of it relating to drilling through the hardened steel above the van cab. Those holes were drilled this morning. I have a bit of touch up to do.

Vehicle ~ FTC–Scosche StuckUp holds my Smartphone, 09/16

This works for me!

Rather than my iPhone laying on the center console or passenger seat, it’s in a Scosche Mount [a StuckUp] purchased at a local Walmart. The mounting is functional and looks good too. My charging cable reaches it, should I need to charge the phone.

Technology ~ iOS10 X 3 & Watch OS 3, 09/13

I guess 2 out of 3 is not bad, unless you use an additional 3 hours installing iOS10 on 1 phone.

That is what happened to me.img_1988

The graphic on the right was my “friend” for nearly 2.5 hours Tuesday afternoon [from about 2:10 – 4:20 pm EDT].

Thanks to Terri Clevenger, AppleCare iOS & Mac Senior Advisor, and some luck, I recovered and went on to complete the installation.

I learned that others had this problem as well. Apple said:

The issue has been “quickly resolved” and impacted a small number of users during the first hour of availability. In the meantime, if you haven’t done so already, you should back up your iPhone before downloading iOS 10.

Photography ~ Have camera, will travel, 08/30

A way of moving some of my gear [kit] in my FTC.

The cargo bar and cart, with bag, are from Lowe’s. The bar is set to keep gear from moving and the bag to hold camera equipment. My ThinkTank webbing holds my lenses and other small pieces of kit.The cart for the bag supports the webbing. Testing shows nothing moves around. I also have a foot locker to secure longer items such as tripods. I am nearly ready for the road.

Best!

Technology ~ DIY–Thinkware F770 Installation–Cellink B (the Battery) [Mod 09], 08/30

Neatly tucked away.

Power for the headliner & cargo area accent lighting and Cellink Battery for the Thinkware F770 DashCam pass through the area beneath the passenger seat. They are all grounded there too. The connections are soldered and covered with heat-shrink tubing. The wiring is then placed in split-loom tubing. I think the project is functional and looks neat.

I’d rather not have to switch the dash camera on/off versus its state being controlled by the ignition switch. I have not found a place to make that happen. Maybe one day…
