Team FARA update ~ Big Cat steps up!

Team FARAlogo Kyle Bryant will ride a Catrike 700 in 2010 RAAM. Big Cat Human Powered Vehicles, LLC is supporting Kyle and Friedreich’s Ataxia Team. Mark Egeland is also going to help raise dollars for ride Ataxia as well. My readers likely recognize the name Kyle Bryant, Team FARA, or Friedreich’s Ataxia. I published articles on them in early April 2010 as I profiled RAAM participants. Now, we get to follow Kyle on one of our favorite trikes. It also happens to be the model trike I ride—a CT700.

RAAM 2010 ~ Meet Team FARA

logoToday, we meet  Kyle Bryant and his team of  extraordinary cyclists. I trust you are familiar with Friedreich’s ataxia and that you may have watched the video that I posted yesterday and read about the challenges Team FARA [Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance] face because they suffer from Friedreich’s ataxia and they are in the Race Across America.

Kyle Bryant, the FARA team leader, has a special website [Ride Ataxia] with more about him and his fight against FA. [the text below is from the home page of the Ride Ataxia Website]

Kyle Bryant was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia, a rare, life shortening disease that affects muscle control and coordination. As a young athlete this meant loosing many of the activities he enjoyed but the one activity he would not give up was cycling. In 2007, riding his recumbent tricycle, Kyle created Ride Ataxia with a 60-day, 2,500 mile bicycle ride from San Diego, CA to Memphis, TN. The goal of the ride was to educate the public, enable research through funding, and empower others through inspiration and motivation. 3,300 miles and $800,000 in research funds later, the spirit of Ride Ataxia is stronger that ever and is now the marquis fundraising event for the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance. Today Ride Ataxia offers challenging and family friendly rides all across the country.

Tail winds to you all…
