Since I cannot submit a collage, I have to find a single photograph to represent my 2008 [odyssey] rides.

The  prompt is: If I wrote a novel, it would be about…

…a 2008 Coast-to-Coast [and more] Cycling Odyssey

Niagara Falls

This novel would begin with a Catrike Rally in Winter Garden, Florida, followed by the Face of America Ride from Bethesda, Maryland to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Late June ’08 began the actual odyssey by biking in Virginia & Tennessee; then a drive [with a breakdown in South Dakoda] to Idaho, then on to Wenatchee & Seattle, Washington; from Seattle a one-day [204-mile] bike ride to Portland, Oregon; follow that with a drive to Minnesota for a short visit with Hazel. Go from there to Iowa for RAGBRAI. Meet friends in Illinois and ride with them. Go home for a few days before driving to Buffalo, New York to ride with cyclist at Niagara. Home again, then to Georgia and later to Charleston, South Carolina for more riding.

Two Thousand Eight was a heck of a cycling year. I am glad I documented enough of the story that [if I were so inclined] I could indeed write a novel about a fictionized character who took on these feats and met the challenges as they happened. Could there be “a Best Seller” here?

June 29, 2008, the cyclist on the ’08 Trikes Only Tour at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho happened upon a wedding.

Publication ~ Sports Illustrated–Road Warriors, 10/23/2006

This issue of SI published a story, “Road Warriors,” about our local cycling club–Cross Creek Cycling Club [C4]. I’m in the small picture in the center of the story. For me, it was a national exposure of sorts. Then I wrote:

The October 23rd [Volume 105. No. 16] Sports Illustrated has an article on page 150 that describes some aspects of the Cross Creek Cycling Club (C4) in Fayetteville, North Carolina and refers to us as “Road Warriors.”

Replaced the remaining [lost one] Brooks leather bar-end cap with a pair red Fyxation Bar End Plugs. They match the bike’s color and several accessories.

Cycles – A dream deferred–Cruzbike Vendetta, 10/15

I did not deliver on my April 2012 dream. Now, there is a NEW Cruzbike Vendetta–the Vendetta V20.

First, it was the Silvio and then the Vendetta. I loved it from the moment I saw it as Maria Parker rode her record breaking ride. I will invest the proceeds from the sale of Silk and tail fairing into my dream bike. If I do this as I want, it will be with the carbon fiber wheel.

I’ve seen 2 generations of V’s pass me by… A dream deferred…

Gone too soon ~ Robin Williams–1951-2014

Yesterday, August 11, 2014, we lost a person who  gave millions countless moments of joy and laughter. May Robin Williams rest in peace. My prayers, thoughts, and condolences to his family and friends. Today, and the days to come, we celebrate his life.  In addition to his comedic genus, Mr. William was a cyclist–pics here.Robin Williams--Cyclist
