Camera Gear/Kit ~ CamRanger, PT Hub, & MP-360 Pan/Tilt Head, 09/07

I had hoped to take nice turtle closeups…

That will have to wait because it seems the PT Hub is defective. In the circuit, CamRanger does not see the camera–out, it does. I have submitted a support request. Waiting…IMG_4509

  1. I received my goodies around 4:00 pm today [Thursday] and only have partial joy. I have waited years for this kit and must now wait a bit longer—bummer! CamRanger does not connect with my Canon 6D unless I remove the PT Hub from the circuit. I am running the app on an iPad Pro 10.5.

I have verified the cables are good. The same failure happens using my iPhone. The green LED on the Hub flashes periodically. The USB LED on the CamRanger goes out after a while when a connection with the camera has not happened. I have cycled the power on all components. Batteries were fully charged before I turned on the system. Can this be resolved without a replacement being sent? I purchased the components from B&H in New York, 09/02. I am hoping to hear from you soon and to have full joy ASAP. Thanks and Best!

      Hi James,

I’m sorry to say it sounds like the PT Hub is faulty and needs to be replaced. However, how did you verify the cable are good?

          James,

Yes, so I see how that can test the USB mini cable that connects to the cable. However, I don’t see how it would test the cable between the CamRanger and PT Hub.

Regardless, we can send a replacement. We typically require the faulty unit back first and will send you a shipping label. However, if you are time sensitive, we can ship first if we have credit card info to hold. Let me know how you would like to proceed. We can ship just as soon as details are ironed out (so presumably tomorrow).

I understand. I can test that cable using a printer, if that will suffice? Please let me know. Has anyone else had this problem?

I also verified the MP-360 motors turn with 7.4 volts. I used the manual controller.

Do you want my card info now or do you want be to submit it later today?

            Best,

            James

              Hi James,

Over the years we have seen a few faulty cables and probably one or two faulty PT Hubs with the symptoms you describe.

If you are going to be available tomorrow, I can call to get credit card info. What is your phone number and shipping address?

Thanks for that information. Do you want me to see if the cable works with a printer?

                Telephone number & Address

I tried to resolve for about 2 hours. I worked from 4-midnight to have this system work for me—partial joy…

Thanks for the superb support. It is one-of-a-kind! I deeply appreciate what you have done before and what you are doing now!!!

                Best,

  2. I had a defective PT Hub. I received its replacement him Monday, 09/11. It was recognized and functioned as expected. The bad Hub is being returned. At random from B&H, I happened to be the customer who received a non-working component—my luck!
