DIY [#28] ~ Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens Solar Filter, 07/28

A sheet of 4″x4″ Solar Filter arrived today.

IMG_4250Using a template I cut last night, I cut the medium to fit in 77mm to 82mm step-up adapter ring. On top of it, I placed an 82mm to 86mm SUAR. It holds the filter medium in place. I now await a telephoto lens hood for the top ring. It should arrive Tuesday, 08/01.

This DIY is needed because the lens filter I ordered may not get here in time. I canceled my order and made one instead.

Sun pictures this cloudy afternoon using the solar filter. I am getting closer to being prepared for the 08/21 Solar Eclipse.
