Required: a stand, an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and lots of time & patience.

The way I capture basking shots. Turtles in the water–easy. Turtles on a rock–the required pieces [listed above] and LOTS of luck.

  1. I now use my iPhone 7 Plus [before my 6S Plus]. I use the older iPhone to look at IP Cameras to see that a turtle or turtles on the basking rock, then I use the watch to snap the picture. I also tap the watch face to focus and set exposure in the phone’s native camera app. The arm is new and will permit a tighter shot. The 2X [zoomed in feature of the 7+ does not work with the watch and does not last after setting the app to 2X. Anyway…
