Transportation ~ 2016 Ford Transit Connect LWB XLT–Mods 04 & 05, 08/05

The busy day continued with a cargo are floor covering and fitting for transporting two of my cycles.

  1. Bulkhead [See 1st comment for the story. It’s a doozy!]
  2. Painted door panels
  3. Window wind deflectors
  4. 4′ x 6′ Rug
  5. Bike transport rig

I did not like the factory van flooring. It looks very nice; but, it seems to mar and spot easily. The floor had adhesive on it in several places. My gentle efforts to remove it left spots. I think after a while, they will wear away. Nonetheless, the rug I selected looks pretty good. Yep, there is a story here too. It is shorter than my bulkhead story.

You can see the rug in several photographs above.

After the rug is in place, it is time to design a way to safely transport two of my bikes in this van. The floor-to-ceiling height is less than my ’98 Winstar Van it replaced. I packed a LOT in that van.

This time, I will remove the front wheels and attach the fork to a board on the floor. Likewise, I attach the rear wheels to another board on the floor. This will be somewhat like a roof rack, but inside. Parts have been ordered and will not all come at the same time.

Stay tuned…

  1. ~ Another FTC Mod Story ~

On my floor covering: I thought 12″ square interlocking floor tiles would work–that is–look good. They did not, thus the 4×6 rug you see. It can be easily removed for cleaning and to clean the floor beneath.

See, I said this one would be shorter than my bulkhead story.
