Photography ~ The Storm of January 28, 2016–The Good, 05/21

Aside for the damage caused by this storm, I now have a photographically appealing treeline.

Contrast that with pictures below taken earlier this year & one from 2011.

  1. Although I have spent several hours on clean-up and repair and still have more to do, I much prefer the pictures I can now capture with the vine invested tree gone, albeit as a result of wind and rain.

This tree, like many, had the Smilax Vine growing in it.

It seems I have [had] an infestation of Smilax, also called Greenbriar and Catbriar, even Sarsaparilla.

The vine weakens and kills trees.

Five years ago, I had a serious infestation in my backyard and still see the vine growing. Fortunately, I am able to remove its tubers or cut the top of the vine before it affects my trees. I paid to remove this pest from the pine tree on the west side of my backyard.
