Photography ~ Clouds, 05/10

Kind of saw-toothed

The winds aloft can create interesting cloud formations.

I have asked Greg Fishel, a meteorologist at WRAL TV, for an explanation:

Hello Greg,

Please tell me about these clouds [ ]. I took the picture in Fayetteville 2016:05:10 19:47:04. From the ground, the bottom of the cloud appeared to be equally spaced boxes of cloud and sky–saw-toothed in shape. The clouds were to the northwest of my ground position.

I imagine what I saw was caused by winds. I have not seen such an occurrence before.
