Blog ~ Twenty Sixteen Theme Cascading Style Sheet [CSS][Help], 03/16 and 03/18

Sometimes it is too hard and one cannot figure it out by themselves…

thesacredpathIn terms of CSS, I had two such times and went to WordPress.com support for help. My rescuer is thesacredpath. Props to him for the support he renders to all. I have seen a lot of his responses to issues. He is always friendly and helpful. He resolves problems.

My CSS is the better for it! I am thankful and grateful for the work he does. My support request dealt with:

  1. The Twenty Sixteen Sidebar display on a 1024×768 iPad [I use an online emulator] in the landscape orientation. I wanted it to show as it does on a PC. It seemed I needed to pad the display from the left with 93 pixels. Well, not really–thesacrehpath to the rescue, 03/16:

    /** iPad CODING, width, elements, and margin code from thesacredpath, WordPress.com Happiness Engineer, 03/16 **/

    @media screen and (max-width: 909px) and (min-width: 708px) { .entry-header, .entry-summary, .entry-content, .entry-footer, .post-thumbnail { margin-left: 7.6923%; margin-right: 7.6923%; }

  2. My second issue was how to center the social media container so it shows centered on all devices [PC, smartphones, tablets, iPads, etc.]. I found ways to do so for a series of devices, but that meant if the dimensions of the device changed, the centering would be off and the coding did not work the same for all devices. Anyway, off to WordPress.com Support Forum–thesacredpath delivers again, 03/18:

    .site-footer .social-navigation, div.menu-social-links-container {
    /* coding by thesacredpath, WordPress.com Happiness Engineer,
    to center the footer credits and the social icons on all
    screens/windows, 03/18 */
    width: 100%;
    }

    .social-navigation li {
    /* as above, coding by thesacredpath, 03/18 */
    float: none;
    display: inline-block;
    }

    .site-info {
    /* as above, coding by thesacredpath, 03/18 */
    margin-left: auto;
    margin-right: auto;
    }

I will not explain how the code works, but know both are PERFECT solutions for what I wanted to achieve. Thank you thesacredpath. We appreciate you.  –jaa
