Fitness ~ Bike Ride–Transportation for Photo Job, 03/17

Integrating fitness [in the absence of personal transportation] and photography…

I am to take seasonal pictures of my home church–Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Murchison Road, Fayetteville, North Carolina.

I took pictures in December. Now, we want pictures with green. I want the dogwood trees in bloom and leaves on the other trees. Flowers, if any, with blossoms as well.

IMG_5250.CR2This will be a sunrise shoot, capturing the church, enhanced by the greenery. The pastor and staff are thrilled with the pictures from the December shoot. I want to better those.

Anyway, without a vehicle, I needed to get there. For the distance and purpose, I chose to ride. I’ll likely make a few more to see when I plan to shoot. I think in 2-3 weeks.

This was a special trip on my single speed bike [Faye] to survey an upcoming photo shoot. This route was about traffic avoidance. It worked well getting there and less well riding home.

Yes, there are hills. I rode them on a single speed bike.

Fortunately, I’m able to keep leg strength and meet the challenge slight elevation gives. The route home has more hills–met those with a vengeance.

Regrettably, my phone locked up and I missed capturing the entire ride. Oh well…

  1. Now, I have to figure out how I’ll get there the morning of the shoot. I can do camera gear on my bike, but probably not the tripod. Plus, any accident is likely to damage expensive gear. I have a couple of weeks to figure it out. In the meantime, I’ll continue to shoot around home…
