How Do You Forgive a Murder?

On the night of June 17, a gunman opened fire in a church basement in Charleston. Nine people died. Five survived. Survivors and families tell their stories of faith and forgiveness.

TIME Magazine has published a compelling article that explores the faith and forgiveness of survivors, their families, and the families of the Emanuel 9.

Reader of this blog know I went to Charleston Saturday, June 20, 2015, to express my sorrow and to take pictures of what I saw. I uploaded my photographs to my Flickr account, placing them in my Honor to the Fallen, Emanuel AME Church Tragedy, Charleston, SC Album .

The magazine’s cover photograph is mine, taken Saturday morning at 10:20 am. I am fortunate and honored to have my work on the cover of TIME Magazine. I received their request yesterday around 11:00 am–Veterans Day. This gives an even more special meaning to Veterans Day and to the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11 month. In 1918, that was Armistice Day–the end of World War I.

It is indeed a pleasure to work with officials of the magazine. Special thanks to Skye Gurney.
