Avocado ~ Decision to remove second stem, 10/06

IMG_2745.CR2

IMG_2763.CR2Tuesday, 10/06, I removed the second stem. Now, there is one. I see it is growing. A bit more growth and I will prune it so that limbs will grow.

On inspection [below], I see I removed the right stem. It was an off-shoot of the main stem and was/would have impeded the growth of the avocado plant. At the time I chose which one to remove, it was not obvious. It appeared two separate stems had grown out of the pit.

Certainly, my reading said it should be removed. I wanted to do so later to ensure the root would get the greatest benefit from photosynthesis. If anything, I think I could/should have removed it sooner. Anyway…
