Sunday, we will see rain for most of the day. The rain will start off light but could pick up in intensity as we head into the afternoon, and could mix with sleet or snow at times as the afternoon wears on. The rain will change over to snow during the evening into the overnight hours. With the current track of this potent system we could end up with 2-6″ of snow west of highway 1 and a trace to around 3 inches farther. If the track of this low shifts west then we would see less snow but if it tracks more to our south and east then we could end up seeing more snow. Sunrise: 6:45 a.m., Sunset: 6:09 p.m. Wind: N at 10-15 m.p.h. Sunday night: Cloudy with bands of snow becoming likely across the area. Lows in the lower-mid 20s. Winds from the north at 10-20 mph.
What to do. The later I depart from Florida, the more likely I am to drive in wintry weather. I could have departed around 6:00 a.m. and likely avoided such a drive; but, I have decided to ride in today’s ride and chance it. If needed, I’ ll get lodging enroute. I hoping to depart Florida NLT 3:00 p.m.
I departed Floral City around 4:25 p.m., returning to Fayetteville, North Carolina around 12:30 a.m. I had to drive in rain after entering NC. Otherwise, the trip was uneventful–just tiring. I’m glad it was uneventful & SAFE!
