Know Egypt ~ Sherif Louis’ Tour ~ President Mubarak Resigns 2
I think this is a cycling tour like no other. Sherif Louis is a brave man to have endured what he has and continued to ride. He says he has unforgettable memories of this revolution and those from people he encountered as he closed on Cairo. I wonder what his thoughts are now that the people’s revolution has had its desired effect. He will comment here soon. Thanks my friend and stay safe. –jim |
Know Egypt ~ Sherif Louis’ Tour amid protest ~ through Day30 7
We have been peeking in on Sherif’s cycling tour through Egypt. My last article was 01/12 [through Day11]. Sherif last posted to his blog 01/21, where he continues to give very colorful descriptions of the Egyptian countryside and its people. He also uploaded many more pictures to his photo gallery [through Day21] and his last facebook entry was also 01/21, with a comment 01/27.
He has not yet posted his experiences through Day30. With the protest and the response of the government, I wonder what affect these circumstances are having on Sherif’s cycling tour. Boy, did he pick a time to be out-and-about Egypt.
We trust all is well with him and that he will give us an update soon. I know this is a cycling experience that he will never forget. The best my friend and be safe. –jim

He has also uploaded pictures through Day3. We get to see Egypt in a very different way.

Sherif Louis’ epic tour of his homeland—Egypt on the tour–titled Know Egypt began as planned 6:10 a.m., 01/01/2011, New Years Day in Cairo .
Sherif gives us an update in his blog. He arrived at Bahareyah Oasis. He stayed in Bawiti is the central village of Bahareyah Oasis. Sherif tell us he rode 125km on the first day. I looks like he is on stride.
It is good to know all is well and that he is enjoying the experience. Remember check his blog reports and his FB Page.

Sherif Louis has one more week before he begins his epic tour of his homeland—Egypt on the tour he has titled Know Egypt. The tour begins on New Years Day in Cairo and goes from there for a planned distance of 5500km over a 3-month period.
I plan periodic updates as he travels.
