Home ~ My Bike Room ~ My Game Room Reply

721 Chadwick5Hard to believe it was almost 3 years ago that I took these pictures.

I now have the Cathouse and cycling stuff in my utility room.

My “Bike Room” has evolved [given the SB party I’m hosting] to include the ability to seat additional guest and to allow them to play cards [and other games].

I will indeed use this table to assemble jigsaw puzzles.

There is more to do, but now sufficient for 02/06.

You see Faye, my RANS Citi Crank Forward has a place inside, where the Cats & my road bike are “outside.”

BTW, the painting, etc. continue in prep for the Artis Party.

iPhone 4 gets another task ~ Home automation control [X10] Reply

I have a few special effect lights that I prefer to not have to turn on/off with a manual switch. Using X10 Commander [server], X10 Appliance & Lamp Modules, and the iPhone X10 Commander [client] App, I can accomplish what I want—works for me.

I think I may have one of the most functional iPhones around. I currently have 128 apps installed. This is a smartphone I put to good use and actually save money with some of the apps I use versus hardware that I once purchased.

I wonder what the next release of the magical device will give the consumer.

Apple TV ~ Sound Configuration ~ 20.4 3

streaming_videoReally surround sound. Using 3 Apple TV2s as “Multiple Speaker” devices for AirPlay, I have integrated 3 surround sound systems, 2 systems with a sub-woofer and one with 2 subs [the “.4”]. The 20 part in the title is the number of other speaker enclosures [23 total]. I would not want to count individual speakers. Some of the enclosures have as many as 4 speakers. They are positioned for good sound distribution. I think the integrated systems really sounds excellent. The after Super Bowl Party should really ROCK. The game and other TV watching should be quite entertaining. I continue my research for video options to deliver the vid from one cable set-top box to two other HDTVs. I do have a fall-back plan.

Apple TV ~ Early experiences, 11/29 8

Apple TV 2I have a second generation Apple TV—ATV 2ATV2. So far, it seems to be a practical device and fun to to use when the networking/HomeShare works. AirPlay [the ability to play music [and later videos] is so cool.

That is, I’m able to select ATV2 at a computer with iTunes installed or my iPhone, with the Apple Remote App installed and hear the music from that system. iTunes TV, iTune & Netflix movies, Flickr pictures, YouTube,  and more can be streamed to the Apple TV.

It is functional enough that I hope to add more to my home system. The rub is HomeShare is NOT working on my main computer. I have tried everything I know to do as a computer tech. I am now working with Apple Technical Support to find a solution for this problem. It is one that is well documented as a consumer experience.  I wish it were one I did not have.

I am hopeful.
