Home ~ My kitchen [almost complete] ~ 9 years & glad I waited 3

In 2001, on inheriting my current home from my aunt, I began several major remodeling tasks—most completed. In the kitchen, I replaced the flooring with tile, replaced cabinets, added granite countertops, replaced appliances, cut a hole in the wall between the kitchen & dining room, used a different paint scheme, and several other assorted changes. I did not have the molding  to join the kitchen walls and ceiling done then, thinking I’d have it done at some point—time passes, cycles come and go, and then I decide to host a 2011 super bowl party. Well, the number one priority is to have crown molding installed.

AR.Tommy [Tommy Kammerer] Drone Escape [was titled AR.Escape] can be purchased now [before Christmas as Tommy hoped] from the App Store. It is $2.99. This is a Single-Player Augmented Reality Game.

Tommy offers some Tips & Tricks:

  • In your first games you won’t survive longer than 2 minutes even in "easy". That’s ok!
  • On iPod Touch / iPhone you can activate the huge radar in settings. It has a higher range and a better resolution. (iPad uses the huge radar automatically)
  • Yes, dodging rockets seems hard. Get used to it!
  • If you still can’t do it choose the "dodge" as special equipment. The AR.Drone will use another dodge maneuver with a larger time frame.
  • For the intermediate Drone Escaper I would recommend the "charging" special equipment. This loads your energy pulse much faster. This is the way to get a lot points!
  • If you can not decide what special equipment to choose, take the shield equipment. Even without skills you will survive longer.
  • Higher difficult = higher score.
  • When the enemies start to approach in waves you better have the energy pulse charged.
  • There are some secret achievements you can not see in the Game Center list.

  • Instead of copying logfiles to your clipboard you can send them directly via email.
  • Added ability to obtain /data/syslog.bin and /var/log/messages of the AR.Drone. You can also send the logs via email.
  • Added a light shadow to the alert messages.

iPhone 4 gets another task ~ Home automation control [X10] Reply

I have a few special effect lights that I prefer to not have to turn on/off with a manual switch. Using X10 Commander [server], X10 Appliance & Lamp Modules, and the iPhone X10 Commander [client] App, I can accomplish what I want—works for me.

I think I may have one of the most functional iPhones around. I currently have 128 apps installed. This is a smartphone I put to good use and actually save money with some of the apps I use versus hardware that I once purchased.

I wonder what the next release of the magical device will give the consumer.

Apple TV ~ The next chapter, 12/05 1

ATV2 Media_speakers20100901Last week, I [along with Apple support] resolved the issue [see my 12/02 comment] I was having with HomeSharing within iTunes for my Apple TV2. Since then, I have used my ATV2 with 2 of my audio/video systems. I am very pleased with the easy integration of multiple sound systems and the accompanying video display. So much so, that I have 2 more ATV2s on the way.

Actually, we will host a Super Bowl XLV Party, with a super after party, where I plan to integrate pictures of guest from earlier in the day, either from my PC or my flickr account and music to dance by, played from 3 sound systems in different parts of the house—true surround sound. An ATV2 is not a bad investment for what you get. I think its capability is just beginning. BTW, I can control it all from my iPhone using the Apple iTunes Remote App.

Just a technology update [geekness] from Jim. Hey, This is fun and exciting for me.
