Three mods to my “Control Tube” Reply

This is an update to my control tube post of Wed., 01/23/08–added a few items.

I do not know if these are permanent, but likely. I added my cell phone and 2 jacks (1 strobe & 1 speaker switch) [so this tube can be removed without removing the wiring harness]. On the other end, I placed my GPS, with a cycling medallion at the base. To finish, I have spackling & painting to do.

Calibro Reply

Catrike has a tool called Calibro (Italian for caliper) to set toe-in. It looks cool, but has some cost. If I recall, from Dana, Bent Up Cycles, of $65. I thought I could mimic their tool using items from my junk box. I did. Picture to be posted when day comes. Dana advise that toe does not require frequent setting.

Storage: Reply

AirZound air bottle in the Fastback NorBack Frame Pack
Batteries [DiNotte li-ion & NiteRider Flight li-ion]

in the Fastback Flash Frame PackComposite of the two packs

In addition to being used as a trike work stand [to be validated] and VK2 work stand [validated], the stand is useful for prototyping items to be installed on the Catrike 700.

Of course, the 2 panniers provide additional storage space. I have a Fastback Systems 4.0 Hydration Pack [3-liter] and I’m adding another NorBack Frame Pack, which I will place on the frame, just in front of the rear wheel. I have one in a similar position on my VK2. I’ll use it for to store spare tubes and tire repair related items.

Control Tube Reply

I have fashioned a “box,” actually tube [using 2" ABS pipe] for my AirZound Horn, speaker remote, speaker & strobe switches.
U
sing a control “tube” like this reduces the items I have to place on the handle bars and simplifies mounting the devices on the trike. As I intend to mount it [on the boom, just in front of the water bottle bracket] , the devices will be at a function location. The wiring harness goes into the tube, connecting to the two switches [yet to be added in the drilled holes].

Ordered the lighting extension cables, indicated by violet in my Sunday 1/20 post.

As stated below, I’ve ordered the switches, but will not receive them until next week. I also have to add an end cap to the tube. It is water resistant. I intend to not seal the end caps so I have access for additions and maintenance.

Jack Stand??? Reply

Working with ABS/PVC pipe is fun. Just a thought–what if I only need to lift one wheel off the ground? Could I not do so with a stand of some type? I think so. Will this work? I think so. We’ll find out mid February. If is does, I’ll call it a CatStand. Validation pictures later. Stay tuned…

Let It Rain 1

Larry Varney, BROL Co-Editor, has written an informative article, titled: Let It Rain [this article is no longer available at BROL] , on the new Catrike front fender. He likes to new support bracket; but, would like a longer front fender. There is a BROL thread and a Catrike thread discussing the article. The discussions are fruitful.

Given the above information, I have asked Dana, if he will alter my order to get the new brackets and 20″ rear fenders that I’ll alter for the front wheel. I’m up to the challenge.
