Quad build news ~ 01/04 8

By Creeg This week I’m hoping to post some 3-dimensional modeling of the quadricycle I have in mind. Both from Captain Creeg [BROL Member] and from Ashley Guy [Utah Trikes & BROL Member]. Captain Creeg has taken some of my ideas and given them form.  I’ll use his drawings to more easily covey some of my design concepts to Ashley. I think you will be amazed and excited by the results. Which seat for a long Quad ride? 2

Utah Trikes is offering 3 seats for their 2010 Quad[ricycle]:

KMX Bucket Seat Performer Seat TerraTrike Adjustable Seat

1) KMX bucket seat

2) Performer hard shell seat

3) TerraTrike adjustable seat, w/aluminum frame

Given the 3 options, I was curious. So, I asked Ashley Guy of Utah Trikes which of the 3 seats is the lightest and which of the 3 is likely to be most comfortable over a long ride. He responded with seat #3 on both accords. The TerraTrike Mesh Seat, with aluminum frame it is.

This fits with Bryan Ball’s [BROL Managing Editor] [who owns a UTC Quad] statement below that the mesh seat works for him. Bryan has reviewed the quad.

Not much experience with the Performer but I have no complaints about the stock TerraTrike seat at all.

I think the Performer Seat is quite sporty. If I were building this quad up for off-roading, I’d really want to give the KMX bucket seat a ride. My quad will have extras that add to its weight, I’m looking to have lighter components where I can.

Is it time for Silk to Live Stream? ~ NOT! Reply

I do not think so [you judge from these videos]. Camera angle are more difficult; the platform is not stable enough, and I want to focus on the ride. My Citi is a fabulous platform for iPhone streaming. I no longer have to wonder. Any video I shoot from the trike will be by hand, likely without OWLE. Testing is good. –jim
