Touring: "Jim Artis" added Reply
Yesterday, I introduced Silk ‘s Badge. Today, the “Jim Artis” graphic presented earlier. In the case the patch on the panniers cover the blue thread that was visible before and associate the cycle to me in the event of an accident [I also wear my Road ID]. There are other pictures at flickr.

The photographs above are of Silk in her lite mode. In my rush to take these photos, I failed to put on her bottom-tube bag. So, there is a void just in front of the rear tire. Tomorrow, I’ll post pictures with the embroidered Jim Artis on my panniers and on the rear of the trike for Silk’s touring mode.
Received Nashbar Frame Pack Bag Reply
Since the bags are both oriented the same way, I removed the reflective stitching from both bags so thy look the same from either side of the trike. Aesthetically, this gives better balance [IMO]. I can always add reflective material later, if I choose.

Received an e-mail from the CatFlag maker that he shipped my Cat Windsail Saturday, 01/05/2008.
Update: As of today, 01/12/2008, I have not yet received my Catrike Windsail. To the right is a picture of the rack & panniers, with shaft for the windsail. It sits and waits…
Look closely at the top and you will see the strobe light that I’ll use with the trike–close-up below.
I expect the windsail will cover the orange portion of the strobe light. The black stripe is electrical tape, used to secure the wiring. If anything, I expect to shorten the shaft. I did not want to bother the maker by asking for dimensions. Hopefully, I’ll receive the winsail next week. I do have a USPS tracking number.
12/27/2007 Shipment Received–Tubus Fly Rear Rack Reply
Received my rack: 12/27/2007. Most notable is its small size and light weight. As sated earlier, I plan to use the Angletech panniers from my RANS Stratus XP. The collage below shows them attached to this rack. Next, the Arkel Trail Rider Bag is to be placed on the top. It is wider than the rack, yet I think it will look OK sitting on top of the panniers. I’ll know 01/02/2008–my shipment from Bent Up Cycles arrives.

Rode the VK2 [ 0710241704Eastover ] to at lease tone my not recently used ‘bent muscles and check the bike for roadworthiness.
Had an issue with the NiteRider Evolution Smart headlight. It’s not coming on when the tail light is plugged in. Plus, I’m not getting the 4 LEDs in the light to indicate a full charge. I may be getting close to battery replacement time. I’ll try to reset the battery as per instructions on NiteRider’s web site.
I have an Evolution Smart and I’m getting a single red LED on the fuel gauge after a full charge, what does that mean?
You might need to reset the battery’s chip. Run the lamp (discharge the battery) until it’s very dim, but not until it goes out completely. Then apply a full charge. Don’t forget to have a fan blowing over the lamp, to keep it cool, while discharging the battery.
I placed the taillight on a dedicated Li-Ion battery. That way, both lights will have a longer run-time. Ordered the appropriate cable. In the meantime, I borrowed the one on my Trek Project One DF.
I need more secure fasteners for the top of the panniers. The one with water [on the right] unfastened. Near the end of the ride, my water tube was swept into the wheel. The rubber end came off, resulting in my stopping because of the friction. I did not find what caused it until I got home.
Tightened the water bottle holder.
