Something new to try~FiveFingers KSO Trek

Vibram FiveFingers KSO Trek

I have a pair of these coming in today. I’ve done lots of reading and tried a pair KSO locally for fit. I’ll let you know how they work for me. I did have some difficulty getting my toesies into the little “fingers.”  My reading is that problem goes away after wearing for a while. I shall see…

A special cycling jersey…

with 2 comments

This jersey has been on my want list since I got my Catrike 700. There are more “formal” riding occasions that warrant attire other than the typical cycling jersey. I think the Primal Ritz will fill that bill. Of course, such an occasion will require the “Jerry Flag.” So, what are your thoughts???

My New 700 deserves a new helmet.

with one comment

The Specialized S-WORKS Helmet is my helmet of choice. I saw it first during the Tour de France and wanted a red, white, and blue one to match my cycling club colors. My FestiVELO tour guide wore one. Last summer I ordered an RW&B 2D helmet through my LBS; but, they could not get it. I’ve been told the U.S.A. helmet may not be available through retail channels. Today, I ordered a matte black S-WORKS Helmet through my LBS. Hopefully, I’ll have it by mid-February.

Apparently, the reason I did not get my helmet is a recall of the Specialized 2D Helmet Specialized changed their product name from 2D to S-WORKS after the recall.

Implement Rain Pants Backup Plan

leave a comment »

The rain pants & hood I ordered from Showers Pass will not get here before I leave. Last evening, I received a call from the owner (Dave) saying his shipment of rain pants and hoods is in customs. He offered a refund. I still want the hood and may accept the pants. Yesterday, I contacted REI in Cary [where I travel Saturday morning for departure to Banner Elk], for a backup alternative. A sales rep (Keith) set aside 2 sizes of rain pants for me to try for fit. Now, I no longer have to wonder if the pants are in the mail. I’ll decide on Monday, if I still want the pants from Showers Pass.

I also need waterproof gloves. I have winter gloves, but my fingers have still gotten cold on rides. I plan to purchase a pair Pearl Izumi Lobster Mittens. They are water resistant.

The temperature for the Sunday morning roll out is expected to be in the 40s. There is a possibility of light rain on Sunday.
