Silk ~ Brake Lights Switch Replacement 1

Shot from just above the left wheel Gone are the two compression switches—replaced by 2 reed [magnetic] switches. The compression switch would have worked, if installed on a brake system with a longer cable run than the Avid BB7 on my CT700.

Although it worked at my alternate location [Red Xed below], I prefer the aesthetics of the reed switch installation. Plus, there is nothing to wear out and I have backup switches. Thanks to those who suggested reed switches. This job is finished for Silk—on to Fargo.

Gone are the compression switches. Reed Switch in place

This has been a real cool project to design and build. I am fortunate that it is dual in function, that is, I can use the lighting on both my quadricycle—Fargo and my trike—Silk.

To do so, I have to have wiring, switches [reed included], and mounting set up on both cycles. Then, it is only a matter of disconnecting the lights, removing them from their mounts, and doing the reverse on the cycle where the lighting is to be placed.

I think the ability to indicate my turns and stops are both a safety plus.

I guess it’s irresistible. I started with an iHome Speaker in ’08. It has gone through a few changes and locations over the last 2.5 yrs., including a short stint in Fargo’s Power Box [PB].

Yesterday, it found its way onto Silk. Now it is shorter and uses as external power source [now a DiNotte Li-Ion Battery versus the AC adapter of the PB]. The music player is my iPhone 4.

I’m experimenting with an app that could be interesting and fun. I needed a speaker for it—thus yesterday’s installation. Stay tuned…

Silk ~ Flags, 2010 Reply

Jerry Flag I do not expect you will see me riding this trike setup with a flag or flags. OTOH, you will occasionally see pictures of the trike with flag(s) displayed. Here I have my Jerry Flag [now Cat Flags] from Feb ’08.

Bracket, with cable holders for flags I have two others—a Batman & Pirate Flags. I added flag holders, as with Fargo , but without the need for cups to insert the end of the flag staff. The seat webbing catches it.
