Cyclemeter ~ Test, 07/29 2

Phone-Cyclemeter Cyclemeter is an IPhone App. Given Bryan Ball’s review, I decided to check it out. As I see it it is very basic. That is, time, distance, and mapping. Well, there is elevation, calories burned, and a calendar to show your activities. What’s special is the social sharing [if you like]—auto Facebook & Twitter. Certainly, your friends can know where you were and what you did. Oh yes, there are voice prompts and I like those. The app is fine with me. BTW, there are more features. I’ve just listed what “pops” to me.

There are other exports available. If  this piques your interest, read about the app at abvio.com and give it you own test ride. You you can also listen to your iPod. I did not do so on this ride. The time of ANT integration with the iPhone will be sweet—HRM, power, cadence, etc. There goes the battery… Hey, I operate my iPhone on my cycles with an external battery anyway—no problem for me.

    1. Auto Stop Feature:

      I asked:

      Hi,

Thanks for the Cyclemeter App. I use it on my iPhone 4 and have a questions please. Are/will you consider having the clock stop when speed equals zero mph or another speed of the users choice. My Garmin Edge gives me that feature. Of course, we are looking for a more accurate moving speed average. Certainly, pressing the stop button is an option, but would like this function automated as it is with some of the other cycling apps and other cycling computers.

Thanks! I’m enjoying it so far.

      I received:

      Hello Jim,

Thanks for writing, and for suggesting ways we can improve our app. Much appreciated!

The good news is that early next month we’ll be submitting our next release, and it will have automatic stop detection. It’s a free update.

      I replied:

Thanks Steve! I and others are excited to know that feature is coming. –jim

There you have it. That was easy and FAST!

    2. Version 4.1 released today. 09/07. Thanks Steve Kusmmer!

Automatic Stop Detection senses when you have stopped moving and attributes time automatically to stopped time, so that your elapsed time and other statistics cover only when you are moving. Elapsed time will continue to increase until the stop is detected, and then will roll back to when the stop started. Note: Off by default, turn on in Settings.
