Yesterday, I began disassemble of this quadricycle for repair [Mechanical #3] and rebuild in a lighter state. The 06/2010 delivered weight was 107.5 pounds. Ashley thinks he can trim 30 lbs off of that.
Here, we have Fargo Uncaged and ready to romp, if we had a rear wheel.
The rear assemble, less the wheel will go to Ashley as well as the cage. He will trim the rear part of the cage, remove the trailer hitch, and lighten where possible. I’m interested in lighter cage material where support is not a factor.
I recorded the cage at 20.73 lbs:
| Cage | 20.73 |
| Front | 6.37 |
| Front Braces | 1.74 |
| Mounting hardware | 2.38 |
| Rear | 7.67 |
| Tray | 2.57 |
BTW, Fargo, as he sits weighs 32.05 lbs. The total weight so far is 52.78 lbs. I’ll add the weight of the quad-conversion, Lexan, and accessories. That will give us an approximate weight of the system as I rode it.
I’ll also modify my systems to reduce weight. The goals are to deliver the quad under 80lbs and to ride at a minimum 10 mph average speed over a 30-mile distance. We believe we can do this. Exciting results soon. Stay tuned my friends…

Whew! Talk about looking different…
Zeke
…and likely never to look the same again. Ashley is talking about reshaping the rear-end.
Jim
poor Fargo’s been dissected. Can’t wait to see the remodel.
…and I’m ready to discuss your fabric ideas.
