I carried through on my thoughts and purchased a Northern Industrial Yard Cart —41 1/2" long x 23 1/2" wide, with 12 1/8" sides, 300-Lb. Capacity. I only used the axle, wheel, front panel, and appropriate hardware. The front panel became my floor to which I will attach my two FatMax® 28" Structural Foam Water Resistant Toolboxes. I’ll also attach a tongue to connect it to the quad. The yard cart in itself is heavy. As you see it here it weighs 19 lbs.
The wheels could be lighter. They are certainly stout and robust. I do not see how I could ever have a spoke problem with them. I plan to run the same 20" tires and tubes on the trailer as on my quad.
I’ll have my LBS look to see if we can remove some of the wheel play and improve on the bearings.
For slightly less than 1/3 the cost of the Wandertec Bongo and 2.5 lbs more weight I’m about 80% where I want to be. I’d also have to do a tongue for the Bongo.

For those who want to compare trailer weight, please see this table. at BikeTrailerShop.com.
I can’t wait to see the finished product. Please keep us posted on the tongue configuration. I assume you will add tail lights and a flag, for visibility. More pictures please. Thanks Andy.
Andy,
I *always* post what I do and with pictures. I’ve only completed step-one. I’ll soon start step two and maybe step three tonight. Connecting to the quad won’t happen until I have it and can determine bends and tongue length.
I’ll keep it coming…
Thanks!
Jim
