…the idea for a cycle that will allow me to comfortably cycle [with a load] in the southeast during midday summer heat in the months of June, July, and August. Taking from Manifest Destiny, the Catrike Expedition [with its VelTop] the Mr. Giraldo road across the U.S.A. last summer on his Tour of Discovery, and adding my ideas for touring, having done several, along with several cross-state rides, I arrived at a visualization of what I want to tour with–a quadricycle, with protection from the sun, that uses surface area to haul cargo, incorporates mechanical and solar power, and possibly affords some protection from the rain.
I went to Ashley Guy and asked if what I wanted to do was feasible. He said yes. I then began publishing on my blog and opened a quad planning thread on BROL. Several BROL Members came forth with ideas. Captain Creeg was the stalwart who produced CAD drawings that helped others see where this project is going and allowed me to give Ashley a clearer picture of my vision. I am grateful to all.
From concept, we go to the design phase of this project, again with a BROL Thread, where Ashley Guy brings possibilities to reality. We are all excited about the potential of this cycle.
The amazing, unimaginable, and indeed humbling thing for me are the comments that have been made about this project. I thank you for those comments. As a cyclist for near 60 years, I’m deeply appreciative.
Cycling is my passion.
Thank you so very much.

This is a very sweet concept. Kudos to all involved!
I really hope it comes to fruition at a reasonable price point. With or without a solar/electric or gas assist it would be a killer design.
This would truly open up a entirely new dimension in cycling. IMHO Similar to the Rhoades Car but taken to the next level in concept and design.

This development is fantastic. Kudos to Jim Artis for the vision and motivation. Kudos to Ashley and the Utah Trikes gang for the innovation and creativity. This is a quantum leap from the Rhoades Car and similar as it leverages the most up to date tadpole trike design and components, resulting in a much lighter build and lower drag coefficient. If entry/exit quandary can be addressed, the appeal to a broader public seems to be possible. Again, a tremendous job Jim and Ashley, and thank you for sharing your project for many to benefit and enjoy!
