The 100K Contest Winner… 4

Self-Portrait taken on

Here is a bit more about the man who was closet in predicting the year, day, hour, minute, and second that the blog would reach 100,000 hits.

David says:

So, who is Contestant 3713277? His prediction was 12/4/2009  5:01:10 p.m., simply because December 4, 2009, is his birthday–belated, Happy Birthday. This contestant has chosen to NOT remain anonymous.

He is David Yount, BROL member BlueRidge [who hails from the blue ridge area of North Carolina--Waynesville].

David is an avid cyclist, riding a RANS Dynamik Pro Crank Forward Bicycle. He enjoys riding single-track courses in the hills of Southern California.

David's favorite--some of the single-track he's been riding in Sycamore Canyon near Thousand Oaks, CA David on Dirt Mulholland above Woodland Hills, CA

Jim,

I don’t know that I have any words of wisdom. I am just continually amazed at how blessed I am to have a good job and healthy, happy family.

And I’m grateful for interesting blogs like yours and my brother’s.

One last time, a big thank you.

David

Rather than collect his winnings, David has asked that I donate those winning on his behalf to my favorite charity(maybe cycling related) in his and Cycling Experiences… names. That is an excellent idea. I selected the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy [RTC] and David agrees. I will make the donation [$100] tomorrow, 12/08/2009. At David’s request, the money will go to the Southeast Region Rails-to-Trails ~ office in Tallahassee, Florida. David, thanks for the kind gesture. We may even see some mention of this on the RTC Trailblog.

Thanks to all the contest participants and viewers who followed along. –jim

100K Spreadsheet Update All Could there be something about 7s?

100K Pageviews ~ 12/07 2

Not forgetting the historical significance of today, December 7th–Pearl Harbor Day, I trust the march to our first 6 figure milestone has been fun, the contest and all. I look to have a blog that is as interactive as possible. You, my readers, have certainly helped make it that way and fun too. So, thanks for all the memories.

Congratulations to the winner [Contestant 3713277]  of the 100K contest. It was fun watching the statistics and their effect on your predictions and my forecast. Now, that this mark has passed, my focus will be on giving you interesting material of a varied type, but based on our cycling experiences.

Thank you for all the "marks on the wall" along the way:

My next mark will be at 125K, and then every 25K thereafter [for the next year].

THANKS Again!!!

Jim

Cycle South Carolina ~ 06/12 – 06/18 6

image

Cycle South Carolina is one of South Carolina’s largest state bike tours. Beginning and ending in Charleston, Cycle South Carolina’s route takes participants on an exciting journey through some of South Carolina’s most historic and beautiful areas. Proceeds from Cycle South Carolina go to benefit the UMRC, a non-profit which works to rebuild and rehabilitate the homes of South Carolina families in need. A small amount will go to Charleston Moves.

There is interest on BROL. Friends in Maryland that we met biking from Toronto to Niagara will be there. This is on my list of 2010 rides…
