Nope! You are right. It is not a trike [3 wheels]. It is a Quad or quadcycle. This one from Utah Trikes. Bryan Ball, BROL’s Managing Editor publishes his review.
Bryan says:
Obviously I was expecting the Quad to be very practical and it was. It has gobs and gobs of traction, is the most stable recumbent I’ve ever ridden and can carry huge amounts of cargo with batting an eyelash. What I wasn’t expecting was how much fun it is to ride. It’s a heavy thing at nearly 45 pounds as tested but it doesn’t feel like it on the road. The additional wheel and the Utah Trikes steering upgrades have eliminated the brake steer I used to feel on the Path and have also greatly improved the high speed stability. The steering is light but predictable and the low center of gravity combined with the four wheel stability really encourages you to act like a ten year old. I even did some mild off-roading with the Quad and it handled it with ease. Wish I’d had one of these on our monthly “urban assault” mountain bike rides a few years ago.
Now if you are intrigued, you may be more intrigued by another of Utah Trikes offerings—a quad with a motor [more here].
BTW, you can get lots of custom cycles from Utah Trikes. Check their custom shop.
