Maria Parker rides her Cruzbike Silvio to a 12-hour record at Saratoga, New York
Maria Parker, Co Owner of Cruzbike Inc, rode 211 miles in 12 hours, Saturday, July 11, 2009, in Saratoga County, New York on her Yellow Silvio Cruzbike. In riding 211 miles, she set the recumbent 12-hour course record for women and went farther than any previous female road biker had ever done in the annual Saratoga long distance event. Congratulations to Maria, her husband, Jim Parker, M.D., Co Founder and CEO, to John Tolhurst, Co Founder and Design Director, and all others involved in the valiant result.
There are several articles where you can read more about Maria’s accomplishments:
Maria has a world record attempt October 10, 2009. On September 10, 2009, Maria says:
I have been doing longer and longer daily rides and did a 200 mile ride last weekend in preparation for the October 10th record attempt. I find the long rides really challenging. The last 200 mile ride took 11 hours and as an extravert, I find spending 11 hours alone on a bike near maddening. This last ride was made better by an mp3 radio and music player that Jim bought me. I rocked out for all 11 hours. My biggest challenge has been eating and drinking the right food and the right amounts.
I am waiting for the location of her 10/10 ride. I wish her the best. BTW, Mrs. Parker rides a Silvio. One day, I may have one of those in my pack of 7. I’ll be watching and reporting. Stay tuned. –jim
P.S. I took this picture of the Parkers last year in Lincolnton, North Carolina during Cycle NC.

Wow, very nice Congratulations! That bike looks pretty neat. I have seen the bikes where you are sitting but never anything like that. Always good to see innovation.
That’s a recumbent, ridden in a reclined, back supported position. You’ll have to give a ‘bent of some type a try. They are fun to ride and for some alleviate problems they were having with traditional upright bikes. I ride both. Thanks for your comment. –jim
