I resolved virus issues on a customer’s PC and installed SP2 on her 36-bit Vista Home Premium. Decided to upgrade my 64-bit Vista Ultimate and got errors. Had a 2-hr chat session with Microsoft—good support. Some corrupted files were found. A Service Pack2 download froze at 84% complete. Now, I have to do an “in-place-repair” called “an upgrade” for Windows Vista to see if that resolves the issue and then maybe download the SP2 file again. Isn’t computing fun???

The killer app I’ve wanted [almost] 2

hree years ago when on Day6 of my bike tour from Fayetteville, North Carolina to Key West, Florida [1,062 miles in 9 days] and experiencing some torrential thunderstorms associate with Tropical Storm Alberto, I wished for weather-alert that might allow for better decision making when on the road. This is critical when storms may develop hours after one last reviewed weather forecast in the area from which they departed.
Had my biking partner and I known the storm track earlier on Day5, we might have ridden longer to get further south and may have missed what we experienced on Days5-7. The horrors of a storm have been made even more vivid by Mr. Giraldo recounting his recent 07/09 experience as he triked to Haswell, Colorado from Pueblo [read his 07/25 blog letter].

Unintended benefit ~ iPhone 3GS 5
You are looking at the bottom end of my iPhone 3GS. To the left and right extents of the phone[beside the screw heads] are speaker [left] and microphone [right]. Yes, the speaker is small [may not be all bad]. Yet, the sound reasonably good for its size [until you plug in larger stereo speakers and hear the resonance of that sound. Of course, larger stereo speakers sound better as you would expect. I’m still okay with the iPhone’s sound.
