|
|
Hello, this is my first weekly summary of Mr. Giraldo’s Tour of Discovery since he departed Pueblo, Colorado. No, I have not stopped my coverage—I’ve just gone to a WkSum format. Thanks for your readership and continued interest in Mr. G’s adventures. I plan to use this format through the completion of his journey in Weston, Florida. I appreciate your comments on this reporting format. THANKS! –jim |

| Day48 ~ Rafael left our house about 6:30 this morning. Tryna and I rode about 8 miles out of town on our bikes with him. His students and the state of Florida are very fortunate to have him as a teacher and a citizen. My good fortune is that he is now my friend. We have many serious discussions about values, commitment and life. He will be my and Tryna’s friend forever. What a riding day–88.6 miles, beginning at 6:36 a.m. MDT. Compared to the Pathfinders, Mr. Giraldo almost did a 2-day ride. The Pathfinders rode from Pueblo to Ordway and then on the Eads, the next day. Mr. G is 23.5 miles from Eads [now we know why 07/25 9:30 a.m. letter]. CONGRATS on your ride and thanks for the upload of 176 pictures! –jim |
| Day49~ Mr. G can possibly enter Kansas today. It is about 60 miles away, with Tribune being around 80 mile form where SPOT show a stop last night. That’s 9 mile less than yesterday. Ride a century and make Leoti. The Pathfinders rode from Eads to Leoti in a day. Wishing Mr. G another great ride day–maybe his first century on this tour. Thanks for the upload of 147 pictures. –jim
I think I selected a good target. He achieved the town I thought he would. Congratulations sir! |
| Day50 ~ Mr. Giraldo has a short ride day [only 22 miles] and explains it with an evening blog post [07/25 6:43 p.m.]. Sorry! I must say, as an early morning rider [many 3:00 a.m. departures], I’ve seen calm winds until about 10:00 a.m. and again after 4:00 p.m. The heat of the day has it’s effect. Headwinds are the aspect of riding I dislike most. I understand your feelings and the reason for stopping. The best. Thanks for the upload of 50 pictures. –jim |
| Day51 ~ Around 6:00 a.m. [local] this morning Mr. Giraldo decided the storm threat was sufficient that he would not ride and took today as a rest day. He posted a letter [dated 07/26]to his blog so stating. We trust you were able to get done what you needed and will have favorable cycling weather tomorrow. Thanks for the upload of 45 pictures. –jim |
| Day52 ~ Ends with about 80 miles ridden and in Ness City, Kansas. His riding began around 7:15 a.m. CDT and ended approximately 4:13 p.m. CDT. Today, Mr. G uploaded 134 pictures. Thanks! |
| Day53 ~ Seems that is was an uneventful day. Now, we await the pictures… Mr. G gives us 179 pictures and 5 videos. Mr. G’s uploaded pictures and videos are accessible through the Media Matrix I set up on my blog for his uploads. |
| Day54 ~ Chased by a storm, Mr. G appeared to continue to cycle, On to Buhler, he must have thought [I learned later that he is actually thinking Hesston, Kansas, providing the weather cooperates]. Well the weather did not. Mr. G spends the night in Nickerson, Kansas. He rode roughly 95 miles today. As we do at the end of the day. We now await the pictures and they [49 of them] are up! Thank you sir and may next week be even better than this week has been. |

Thanks for you coverage Jim, Since I downloaded internet Explorer 8 I have been unable to acess the link on the BROL message board (along with a dozen other sites I go to daily). I can go anywhere else on BROL just not to that one chat. Until its fixed I have been reading your blog.
Thanks again
Josh
Hi Josh,
We miss you. I’m using IE8, with no problem. Please join us with Firefox, Chrome, or Safari. One of those browsers has to work. Even then, you can still visit my blog. Glad to have you. Trikebldr [Bruce 7 Sierra] are to hook-up with him this weekend. Bruce will resolve and mechanical matters for him. Thanks again. I t is good to hear for you. –jim
