Kansas Ride Request for Mr. Giraldo 5

Catrike Rally '09 ~ Day01

First, later today or tomorrow morning, I’ll post my first weekly summary [WkSum] of Mr. Giraldo’s travel since Thursday, 07/23, of last week.

Today, I have a request from my friend, and also Catrike Owner and trike builder [trikebldr on the Catrike Board] , Bruce to ride with Mr. Giraldo in southeastern Kansas/western Missouri.

Hi, Jim
Friday, 02/27 Van Fleet State Trail RideDoes he need anything in the way of supplies or parts or repairs? I figure I could take him whatever he needs that I can get my hands on, and ride with him a while, or if his trike needs any attention could help him at the end of a day’s ride. I’m watching your posts on the Catrike Forum to gauge when he will be near here. I figure he’s at least to Great Bend, Kansas tonight, the 28th, and estimating that he will be near Kansas City around Saturday. That would work well for me to meet up with him for two or three days to help him anyway I can. I’ll be pulling Sierra [my dog] in her trailer, so I can’t keep his pace very far. I figure to drive to his day’s destination, unload the trike and trailer and ride toward him at a leisurely pace, then ride on in with him. Or, I can bring him anything he needs. I could even swap trikes to take his on ahead to work on his if needed. Do you know his X-seam? I could take a couple of trikes, with one of them set up to fit him. I’ll be carrying my tools. I’ll be watching, so let me know as much as you can about his needs. — Bruce

I have posted Bruce’s request on Mr. Giraldo’s Forum, with a note in his guest book; Facebook;  BROL; and the Catrike Board, in the hopes that Mr. G will see one of them or that someone may call him and relay the message.

Thanks!

Here’s hoping for a second link-up [Colorado Dennis, being the first]…

Jim

    Jim:

I will be delighted to ride with you. Today, my goal is to try to reach Hesston if the weather permits. With the changing conditions one never knows. At the very least, I would like to reach Buhler if my first option is not feasible. If we meet and if it is possible, would you kindly get for me a set of brake pads (for both the right and left side)? I will pay for these. I am having a problem with my right brake. It is not working properly. But, I still need to replace the pads. When these wear down unevenly that seems to create problems. My AT& T Go Phone is not working here. Send me an email and I will send you my Skype telephone. This way we can talk and make the necessary arrangements to meet.

    Regards,

    Rafael Giraldo

P.S. Jim Artis. Thanks for your email.

  2. Mr. Giraldo,

OK, will have a complete caliper on hand, two if needed (actually, a couple of complete trikes!). They are used, but have almost full pad lining. I don’t want to stop your forward progress, so maybe I can do the swap after the day’s ride while you rest up? Looks like maybe I will try to hook up with you on Saturday or Sunday, depending on your progress. Are you camping most of the way? I will have my large tent with me and will be ready to spend a couple or three days on the road as SAG for you to make sure your trike and all are OK. My cell [sent]. Anytime!

    • Hi Bruce, Thanks for the post. I sent your comments on to Mr. G. I also sent you his Skype number. He’s expecting a call from you; and, of course, he will likely call you at the number you posted. I removed it to prevent abuse. Please let me know when, where, and for how long you will travel together. Hoping you have talked or will talk soon. –jim

  3. Hi Bruce
    A pleasure to meet you.
Do you do any Guardian Angel work west of the Continental Divide?
That’s my territory. Your services would save me about 15 pounds of spares and tools.
Your care for others is much appreciated! Thank you.

Okay, tell us what you think...
