Dennis is the first BROL Member to meet up with Mr. Giraldo and will ride with him to Monarch Pass. They’ll ride together for about 10 miles and 2,809 feet of climbing from the Tomichi Creek Bar & Grill in Sargents to the summit, also known as the Continental Divide.
I think Dennis is also a Road Warrior. He has previously conquered Monarch Pass, even with his 9 year old grandson, Caleb. Last month, he rode a century at Moab, Utah. Tired—don’t know; but, he and Mrs. ColoradoDennis went for a ride the next day around Arches National Park, also in Utah.
So, I think we can count on him not being dropped my Mr. Giraldo as they “race” for the summit. Only kidding…
You’ll note they will both be riding Catrikes, Mr. G on his Expedition–Destiny and Dennis on his Road. I understand we will be treated to pictures and video of the occasion. Thanks to those who will make that happen and for including us in the experience. Also, a special thanks to the “CDs” for the picture of this elegant triker.
After reaching the summit, “CD” will bid “Mr. G” a fond farewell and return to Sargents. He will have sent Mr. Giraldo down the mountain with a 46-mile, 5,196-foot descent to Cotopaxi, boosted by a 10-15 mph tail-wind. What a ride that’ll be! SPOT [Password="Student"] will grace us with very long spaces between GPS data points [ride details]. You guys enjoy your ride tomorrow and thanks for taking us along. –jim
