Mr. Giraldo’s Day35 Ride Reply
Started 11:14 a.m. MDT; Rode 35 miles; and, arrived in Dolores at 5:25 p.m MDT. The ride was uneventful as best I know. This is the town where Mr. G is to receive a care package from Josh of Atlantic Bicycles.
Mr. Giraldo’s trip so far… [update1] Reply
Now that Mr. G is in Colorado, I’ve updated the 6/28 mapping and added a link in his media matrix to a newly created Google Map that shows daily cycling destinations. You can manipulate the map to see any and all that you want about the area. However, you cannot see the actual path that he rode. I’m hoping this sates the insatiable hunger of my mapping friends. The map below is from Google Earth. I’ll see if I can make the KMZ file available for download if you like. Then you can "fly" from data point to data point. How cool is that…
You really need to use the map on the media matrix page to see the points above.

I think this picture says it all. First California, then Nevada, followed by Utah, and now Colorado.

Mr. Giraldo’s Ride Day35 ~ on to Dolores Reply
Awaiting Mr. Giraldo there is to be a shipment of tires and tools from Josh of Atlantic Bicycle. We have the “Pathfinders” route assessment as they rode from Blanding, Utah to Dolores, Colorado. Now to add Terry’s elevation map and comments, then we’ll be ready to ride. BTW, I got in 28 miles on my DF this morning. Have a GREAT riding day!
Heart touching words Reply
Tonight on BROL Mr. Giraldo posted this:
Greetings from Dove Creek, CO
Hello Guys:Thanks so much for all the advice, well wishes, and the phenomenal support everyone here has given me. It has been invaluable. You guys are THE authority on recumbents. Hands down! I am beginning to understand what could have happened with the tire. I will be making arrangements with Josh from Atlantic Bicycles to get the tires shipped to Dolores, CO along with the tool needed for proper alignment. By the way, PSI could not be the issue as I made sure not to inflate beyond 60.
Jim,
I want to thank you in particular for all you have done and continue to do. Please feel free to continue using my photography as you need for your publication of Cycling Experiences. You enhance the experience of Tour of Discovery for many readers beyond your immediate circle. I think you do an outstanding job and your work benefits a larger audience. Know that on the other side of the equation, many eyes of the media are looking at what you do. I have shared my positive comments of your work with Antonio Fins, Editor of the Sun Sentinel. We will have an opportunity to speak later on, in detail. Just know that many others, even international media outlets know of the BROL Readers and Cycling Experiences as a result of the natural and very positive synergy that has developed here.
Regards,
Rafael Giraldo
Mr. Giraldo’s Days 33&34 1
I posted Day33 and thought this map would be useful in understanding how the 2 days merge. The straight line is a result of a possible tire failure where Mr. Giraldo chose to be transported to Blanding, Utah where he was able to resolve his tire problem and trike on today to Dove Creek, Colorado. Goodbye Utah! It is a beautiful state. I want to visit and trike the same miles the Mr. G has. Maybe one day…
Today, Mr. Giraldo rode around 48 miles to get to Dove Creek. Tomorrow, I think he may go for Dolores, Colorado [identified on the map as a possible target.
Congratulation on beginning your trek through your 4th state. Before you know it, you will be into the plains of Kansas.
In reflection on these two days: Decisions were made, actions were taken, the ride went on. Good show my friend!
