Mr. G mentions a 10,000 foot climb for today. Looking at the Adventure Cycling Association Western Express Route and conferring with Terry, we are thinking a climb to Cedar Break National Monument [B]. If that is the case, here is a map of the area where Mr. Giraldo will be riding.
Mr. Giraldo’s ride day began around 7:36 a.m. MDT. He has begun the arduous 10,000 feet climb. Let’s cheer him on. –jim
Mr. G is climbing from Cedar City, elevation 5840 feet above sea level, to Cedar Breaks, elevation 10,200 feet. That is an elevation difference of 4360 feet. With the undulations in the road, he will climb close to 6800 feet to get to Cedar Breaks. Seems he is reporting elevation above sea level, 10200ft, rather than elevation difference, 4360 ft, or climbing elevation, 6800 ft, for his hill data.
I saw your BROL post. Thanks! After a break, I expect he will climb on. I agree and think he has done very well. –jim
