At 3:22 p.m. PDT, Mr. Giraldo was at data point 50 shown on the map above [Password="Student"]. He is headed east along U.S. Hwy 50 enroute to Jamestown, Virginia. The question of the day [in the BROL thread] is how far will he ride? Will he make it to Fallon, Nevada in the northeast section of this map [black arrow]?
Google Maps gives me a 62 mile distance between the two towns. That equates to 6 to 8 hours of triking, depending on Mr. Giraldo’s average speed and the amount of climbing he has to do on this route. Generally a fit, road cyclist would ride an unloaded bike 62 miles in 3.5 to 3.75 hours.
Here, my time is based on a 10 mph average, riding a loaded trike ride, and a rider who has been on the road for over a week. Your comments please…
