Bike Train

The Toronto-Niagara Greenbelt Express

Tom Barone [BROL Member ~ Tom Barone] has organized another exciting biking experience in the area of Niagara Falls. Last year, I had lots of fun riding in the area [see Aug '08 hits]. This year we are going to experience an all new adventure on the Bike Train, departing Niagara Falls (Ontario) August 20th and traveling to Toronto.

We are expecting a variety of cycles, including:  trikes; LWB & SWB recumbents; road bikes; MTBs and Crank Forwards. I plan to ride my RANS Citi CF [Faye] because of the ease of handling it for rail transport. I may take my Catrike 700 [Silk] riding it in and around Niagara Falls the day of arrival and departure.

The day after arrival in Toronto [August 21st], we’ll cycle in the Toronto area . The next day [August 22nd], we’ll ride the Waterfront Trail to Burlington (Ontario) approximately half-way to Niagara Falls. We will overnight at the Holiday Inn in Burlington.  Sunday, we continue along the Waterfront Trail to Niagara On The Lake. There, we’ll have a late lunch at the Epicurean Restaurant on the patio, as we did last year. Following lunch, we ride the Niagara Recreational Trail along the Niagara River to the Niagara Falls Train Station, completing the fantastic cycling weekend.

Tasks:

  • Passport ordered 05/18
  • Train reservation made & paid for 05/20
  • HI-Toronto Downtown Hostel 05/20
  • Burlington Holiday Inn 05/20
  • To do: lodging reservations Niagara [08/19 & 08/23]

Goblin Motors meets Google Docs

Manufacturer of Goblin Fairings Internet document sharing resource

You may know that Jeff Bales [BROL Member Goblin] , Owner of Goblin Motors, has created a tail fairing for the Catrike 700 recumbent trike [known as the Goblincricket] and is now designing a front fairing for the CT700. I have several blog post since January relating thereto. I also plan to purchase both for my CT700 ["Silk"]. I’m sure many others will be doing the same over the next several months.

Yesterday, it occurred to me that it would be good if those who buy one or more of Jeff’s fairings could learn of other owners and have some means of communicating and sharing experiences with them. I communicated the idea to Jeff. He has plans to facilitate communications between owners later. For now, I’ve setup a data storage that will allow us to know who the other owners are and communicate if desired.
