This is another great blog to visit. Cecil [Zeke] lives and cycles in the Ashville, North Carolina [Waynesville] area. He gives in-depth riding experiences in his posts, accompanied by picturesque photography. He takes you along for the ride with his vivid descriptions. Hey Zeke, I enjoy going along for the ride when I come over for a visit. Thanks for sharing! –jim

Hi,
What a nice surprise! Thank you for the kind words and I would look forward to you coming this way for a ride. It looks like I really missed my weather forecast to you last night!
It is still snowing here in town at 10:20 a.m. although there doesn’t appear to be any accumulation occurring here. I was definitely glad I had new tires on the F150 this morning! I scooted around several folks whose tires were going forward but their vehicle was going backwards and sideways!

You are welcome. Maybe, you’ll have a few more visitors. The “virtual” rides have been great. I hope we can get a real one in one day. Enjoy your spring snow. Post more pictures…
Jim
Will do. I brought a camera in with me this morning so I may get some shots of downtown when I walk to lunch in awhile.

I think one with flowers and snow will be good. Don’t have too much fun…

Jim if you head west to the mountains to ride with Cecil AND promise to bring one or two of those beautiful recumbents of yours, I’ll fly in from California and join ya’ll!
I brought my daughter out last year in October for a camping trip with Cecil and Kathy and the fall color was unbelievable. That would be a good time of year to visit!
Hi David, That sounds like a winner. I love the mountains in the fall. Maybe I can tie it in with Cycle NC in some way. That’s at the end of October. Let me know what works best for you and I’ll calendar it. I look forward to meeting and riding with you. Now, I need to get busy getting back into shape. –jim
Your picture of a flower and snow awaits you at my blog.
I added some images from my walk to lunch to today’s blog entry.

Thanks Zeke, I visited your blog a few minutes ago. They are very nice pictures. The contrast of winter on spring is profound. I left a couple of comments. Stay warm. Our eastern temps are in the 40s today–too cool for me to ride. –jim
It has continued to be an interesting weather day. My office is currently bathed in sunshine while the mountains all around but particularly back to the south are dark and heavy with snow. If tomorrow gets into the 60′s as predicted, it will sure be some interesting contrasts.
The camera I’ve used today is a Canon PowerShot SD880 IS that I bought for my wife as a Christmas present. It is a 10 megapixel unit but very small. It fits nicely in one of my jersey’s pockets. Since I ride solo 95% of the time, I’ve started carrying a small tripod that I was given at Christmas for my larger Olympus Camedia. The tripod works well with the little Canon and now I can use the timer function on the Canon to at least show that I’m really on some of these rides. Otherwise, I could just be riding around in my truck taking pictures as far as anyone would know!
(Not that I would do that of course…)

So now I guess you are the photographer who took the picture of you sitting on the stone fence. I like the lower perspective. Most people taking snapshot of someone else do not consider a lower perspective and we dare not ask [unless it's wifey]. I need a small tripod also. I have a snapshot digital [Olympus] for bike rides. I’ll have to give you technique a try. Thanks!
Do you think it will be snowing when you get home? I guess it all be gone tomorrow and the streams will be full. Snow has always been beautiful to me.
Jim
Yep, I took it!
I was trying to get the mountain and blue sky behind the stone wall included in the image and the lower perspective should have aided in that effort. Check out the tripod that was given to me at http://www.joby.com. They have several sizes. The one I use fits nicely under my small seat bag and rides along securely (thus far!) just using the bottom straps on the bag. I have two friends, who use the very same tripod with larger cameras and they are very pleased with them as well. They’ll hang on about anything. One friend used them wrapped around the back of a chair trying to get the correct angle for a sunrise shot at the beach. He was doing time lapse photography and the little tripod excelled at holding the camera in place.
We’re home now and just have light flurries at our house. There were a couple of reports of up to a foot of snow in some of the higher elevations. This is all good news as we still need the water tables to improve!
Until later,
– Zeke
The Gorillapod. I know that pod. Yea, I’ll have to get one of those. Thanks for the link!!! Glad the water tables will benefit for the precipitation. Take care. Until…
