This is a WYSIWYG blog editor. I looked at it once before, but did not start using it then. I’ve spent the better part of today reviewing it in detail and will use it henceforth to write my post. These are the things Microsoft says WLW will do for a blog author:
The first thing to notice about Writer is that it enables true WYSIWYG blog authoring. You can now author your post and know exactly what it will look like before you publish it. Writer knows the styles of your blog such as headings, fonts, colors, background images, paragraph spacing, margins and block quotes and enables you to edit your post using these styles.
Writer also includes other views including HTML source-code editing and web preview mode.
Now you don’t have to waste time going through the process of publishing, refreshing, previewing, and tweaking your post to get it looking the way you want. It’s all right there in Writer as you create your post.
BTW, this post was made using Windows Live Writer. The publication process is simpler. I like it!
I downloaded and set it up on my computer to give it a try. I’ll be interested to see if it makes adding hyperlinks and images easier. The WSIWYG feature should be nice also. I was always clicking in and out of edit to see how my posts looked. Invariably, I’d have a line off here or a space missing there. Now, if I just had something wonderful and interesting to say…

I think you will like it. Look carefully at the plugins. I’ve installed 6. Given it presence, I’ve rotated my screen back to portrait. One of them is a flickr plugin that will make inserting and editing photos easier. Glad I know someone who is also using WLW. –jim
Zeke,
I’m really enjoying WLW!!! I’m able to go from edit/source directly to publish without submitting a draft to my blog and previewing it there. I can more easily enter my drop/raised caps. I do have pictures to post now, but tested yesterday. I know editing pictures will be simpler. I wish WP gave me a default border as blogger does. For previews, I wish my categories and tags were visible.
I’m hoping your experiences are also rewarding.
HAGD!
Jim
I just created and posted my first blog entry using WLW. You are correct in stating that it is easier to use and publish. Inserting images and links was much simplified and the WYSIWG feature was very nice!

Glad you like it. I find tables very useful. I should have explored it more thoroughly first time around. I’ll take some new pictures tomorrow and see what I might do with them. I try to give variety. Enjoy!!! –jim
