To this point today, I have done the following:
rewired the trike [for the last time because the new light set is dedicated to this cycle]. Again, I use 2 switches [one for the front lights and one for the rear]. There are a few items at different locations. New pictures to follow after I receive the lights.
- found a unique place to place the batteries. Before I strapped the batteries to the bottom tube, just behind the cruciform. No real problem there, just a few scraps because of low ground clearance. It was also somewhat difficult to get to the plugs to charge the batteries. I’ve decided to place the batteries in the stainless steel bottles behind the seat. Using my angle grinder, I removed the bottom of both bottles and will place the batteries therein. Should I want to store other small items, I can~likely put them in from the top. There’s about 3″ of space available. Before I decided to do this, I was considering a frame bag of some type. I also looked at the wedge bags behind the seat. The bottles are ideal and helps keep the trike’s sleek look. Select the link below to see pictures.
- secured all lighting wiring with zip ties
- moved the front reflector within the fairing [again]
- fashioned a case for the AAA USB external battery for my Garmin Edge to ensure the GPS last for a century ride. I’ll position it after I install the left-front light.
- put black covers [heat shrink tubing] on the bar-end shifters.
- cleaned and polished the fairing.
The bottle with the bottom [top-right photo] is in the group for reference.

Like the lights! Are they day-time visable?
Very much so. DiNotte are know for their daytime “looking into the sun” visibility. There are 3 steady on modes and 3 flash modes. In the past, I used 2 front amber lights and 2 rear red lights ~ 200L each. Now I have twice the lights [visibility]. I wanted the additional lighting and this case for my trike. Looking through my blog, you will see my earlier DiNotte 200L lights. Thanks!
They look good – yes, I’ve looked all through your blog – mounting is very nice – battery location and all. I ride a GS GT5 and NEED much better (daytime) lights – these Dallas drivers don’t say they even see my THREE flags (one is a spinner even) so anything will help – now if it work on thier attitudes;). Thanks

I’ve invested a lot in lighting for all my cycles. No amount is too much for my life. I think sometimes visibility is a result of anticipation, i.e, the drive expects to see you in their reality. Then flags, lighting, etc. make a greater difference. An emergency horn may also help. Stay safe…

Yeah, visiblity is a must in my book – I use my trike for ‘all’ my transportation needs/ sold my pick-up! Do you know of a solar recharger for the ‘DiNotte, I’m going through WAY to many batteries! I have been averaging 4,000 miles a year and don’t ride all that fast so I spend a lot of seat time and go through batteries left -n- right.
Thanks

Spinner,
I do not know of a solar charger for DiNotte lights. I use 4-cell Li-Ion batteries, a batteries for front & another one for the rear. I select the intensity that get me through the ride. I can have up to 48 hrs run time @ 10% intensity. Divide that by 2 for the pair lights I’m running. See this file for additional information. –jim
