No DiNottes today Reply

The lights are at my local post office. I probably could have gone over and picked them up, but decided not to. I expect them to arrive with my regular deliver around noon tomorrow. So no pictures today, for sure tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.  I think this is it for tonight. What to post tomorrow morning???

The refining of Silk continues… 7

To this point today, I have done the following:

  1. rewired the trike [for the last time because the new light set is dedicated to this cycle]. Again, I use 2 switches [one for the front lights and one for the rear]. There are a few items at different locations. New pictures to follow after I receive the lights.
  2. found a unique place to place the batteries. Before I strapped the batteries to the bottom tube, just behind the cruciform. No real problem there, just a few scraps because of low ground clearance. It was also somewhat difficult to get to the plugs to charge the batteries. I’ve decided to place the batteries in the stainless steel bottles behind the seat. Using my angle grinder, I removed the bottom of both bottles and will place the batteries therein. Should I want to store other small items, I can~likely put them in from the top. There’s about 3″ of space available. Before I decided to do this, I was considering a frame bag of some type. I also looked at the wedge bags behind the seat. The bottles are ideal and helps keep the trike’s sleek look. Select the link below to see pictures.
  3. secured all lighting wiring with zip ties
  4. moved the front reflector within the fairing [again]
  5. fashioned a case for the AAA USB external battery for my Garmin Edge to ensure the GPS last for a century ride. I’ll position it after I install the left-front light.
  6. put black covers [heat shrink tubing] on the bar-end shifters.
  7. cleaned and polished the fairing.

Refining Silk 2

These refinements are for my ’09 rides and are being done now in the event I’m able to make the Atlanta, GA Rides and the ’09 Catrike Rally, both in February.

As you know, I have new DiNotte lights on order. They are coming via express mail and will likely arrive today.  Not! Delivery will be Friday, 01/23/2009.

Yesterday, I did the following:

  1. began preparation for the installation of the 4 DiNotte lights
  2. moved my Nuvi 760 RAM mount to the fairing frame
  3. ordered a case [a TouchTredz] & a 2′ dock extender cable for my iPod Touch
  4. prepared a secure mount for my cell phone–still at the rear of my iHome iH85B Speaker, but now with a belt clip. I lost one on my Fayetteville ride with Roger Zoul [the loss isn't in the post]. The lost cell was defective and had to be replaced anyway.
  5. transferred iTune music from the HDD of my broken tablet PC to my PC and then sync my Touch.

The reason for the iPod Touch mods is to allow it to be used outside my iHome iH85B Speaker [the black tub just beneath the AirZound Horn~solar panel removed]. I hope to place it in the Nuvi Tray and thereby have better control of its power-on state. Plus, I’ll be able to see the screen.

I trust my 7:00 p.m. post will have pictures.

Y’all” come back…
