Although the bike pictured [linked from the RANS website] is not a Citi Crank Forward [my planned CF], RANS has designed a RAC [ride and carry] cargo system for Crank Forwards. This after their cargo system for the RANS Hammertruck, also a Crank Forward.
I have the Surly Big Dummy on my wish list. The question is can/should I use the Citi to haul cargo? Of course, with my planned gearing, that could be a challenge–add a Schlumpf Mountain Drive maintaining a single chair ring.
Anyway, Randy Schlitter [RANS Founder] has an informative Into the Ride Article [#71] on the RAC system for Crank Forwards. It’s a good read. If I were to do this, it would not be anytime soon–not in ’09. The Big Dummy and Hammertruck can handle much larger loads.
Here is the BROL Thread started by Nanda [BROL Member Stradavarius] that introduced BROL readers to the RAC Cargo System for Crank Forwards.
