After hours and resolving that, I had no audio from the video. Reinstalled an earlier codec that gave me sound on the Vista machine. Success in media player, but not in Premiere Elements. Around 3:00, I went to bed.
Started again this a.m. — no success. Downloaded and installed Adobe Premiere Pro, still no sound with AVI files, yet a MOV file created using another camera works as does an AVI in media player. I think I have a codec issue.
Called Adobe–no support for trial version. I still got helpful information–use Quicktime Pro to save the file in another format [preferred uncompressed AVI]. Done [for $32] and it works. CDex is an application that records audio tracks from CDs and saves them to a disk as regular WAV files or as encoded sound files. It is now 5:40 p.m. I have burned a music CD and extracted the music to WAV [MP3] files. SUCCESS! Now to import into Premiere Pro–MORE SUCCESS!!
