I have long planned to shoot video using my ‘bents. There are pictures in my archive in both ‘bent blogs showing my plans [use the video label to view related posts].
Well, plans have changed somewhat. I’ll still shoot video, but with a different camera–this one is waterproof. Given a recent BROL post by moadib64, my interest in the ATC2K Camera was piqued.
That ride was a blast. We took it pretty easy riding and just had a lot of fun. Since we were already pretty wet there was no need to avoid the puddles. The fairing did keep my feet surprisingly dry though Weird thing is that you can barely tell it was wet on the cameras.
Actually, that was my ATC2000 camera. I normally do have my headlight mounted there for night time riding. The mount is a TerraCycle Accessory mount. That mount is just about bulletproof.
Depends on the tires. I’m running the Kojak tires right now and since they are totally bald they don’t throw a lot of water. With treaded tires I get splashed on my sides going through puddles. I always recommend a rear fender though so you don’t get the strip on your back. Brent has the full fenders and he didn’t get splashed at all except when he got too close to the back of my trike (I have a shorty rear fender).
So, I ordered one [from Amazon.com and bought it for $55--not bad--that's $80 off the msrp] and did some test riding on Friday–raw video soon.
Here is a good YouTube video with the ATC2K mounted on trikes [recumbent tricycles]. There are more videos of trikes using this camera at utahtrikes.com. I’m impressed!
